The gay community is the next to feel the wrath of Trump’s hate-filled presidency. And by all accounts it will be very, very bad.
According to IFON in yet another secretive executive order that the administration has declined to make public until Trump signs it into law, anti-gay forces within the White House such as Mike Pence and Steve Bannon are drafting an executive order to dismantle many of the LGBT protections signed into law by Obama over the past eight years.
One of the most disgusting details couldn’t even by hidden by the Trump team: They are going after gay adoption – a popular attack among right-wing homophobes.
The White House has refused to comment, shooting down a question by the Washington Post when asked about this new assault on civil liberties.
The New Civil Rights Movement reports that a source within Congress with knowledge of the executive order claims it will also be used to dismantle anti-discrimination laws enacted by Obama that protect members of the LGBT community from work-place discrimination.
A White House official speaking on the condition of anonymity has told NCRM that high ranking officials in the Trump administration are discussing the preparation of an executive order which would roll back and nullify President Barack Obama’s 2014 executive orders (photo above: signing) which protect employees from anti-LGBT workplace discrimination while working for federal contractors.
Pence, as governor of Indiana, became the poster child of the conservative fight to be allowed to discriminate against gay customers in businesses and employees of those businesses as well.
Once again, Trump is proving that the people willing to give him the benefit of the doubt were astoundingly mistaken. After his campaign was accused of homophobia, Trump held a publicity stunt where he held up a rainbow flag that read “LGBT for Trump.” Somehow, despite all the warning signs, this was enough for many to give him a pass.
