Moscow expels 23 British diplomats from Russia amid increasing tensions over a nerve agent attack against former double agent, Sergei Skripal and his daughter on UK soul.
The move comes in retaliation for Britain’s decision to remove 23 Russians – who Prime Minister Theresa May said were spies working under diplomatic cover.

British ambassador to Russia, Laurie Bristow, leaves after a meeting at the Russian foreign ministry building in Moscow, Russia, Saturday, March 17, 2018.
Those named by Moscow are forced to leave within a week. A kind of response the Prime Minister said she had anticipated.
After summoning the UK’s ambassador, the Kremlin has also decided to close the British council- a body aimed at promoting cultural ties.
“I just had a meeting in the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This crisis has arisen as a result of an appalling attack at the United Kingdom, the attempted murder of two people using a chemical weapon developed in Russia and not declared by Russia to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons as Russia was and is obliged to do” – Laurie Bristow, British Ambassador to Russia
The British government has firmly pointed the finger of blame at Russian President Vladimir Putin.
While Moscow has repeatedly denied any involvement, May claims the chemical weapon was produced in the former Soviet Union.
British police are reportedly working from the theory that the nerve agent was somehow stowed in Yulia’s luggage when she came to visit her father from Russia.
