In the Clinton corner, we’ve got an American Lady Macbeth in Hillary Clinton. Her entire life has been about furthering her husband’s political career, by any means necessary. As her dark past catches up, she cannot escape the ghosts of defeated–and murdered–rivals.
And just as Lady Macbeth could not remove the red “spot” of blood guilt from her hands, so Hillary’s increasingly serious illnesses represent her the inner guilt that is eating away at her.
Not that Hillary is alone in the cast of villains. Her closest aide, Huma Abedin, is like Hillary’s shadow, and therefore just as much like the guilty Lady Macbeth without all the fame Hillary “enjoys.” Birds of a feather flock together, as the saying goes.
Huma and Hillary are like two rotten peas in a pod. They are both driven by the same ambition, which is also what traps both of them. Both married politically ambitious men. Both stood beside their sexually predatory husbands despite years of undeniable and totally public sexual scandals. Both have the look of women haunted by guilt. And both are on the same canoe as it crashes over the rapids towards a waterfall that will very likely take the entire Clinton cartel down with it.
They’re like an odd couple: Huma is dark-haired, bone-thin, and very tight-lipped; Hillary is blond, much huskier, and annoyingly loud-mouthed. Now that Hillary’s second bid for the White House lies in ruins, the question for this odd couple is, who will crack first? Who will jump out of the canoe before the other? Who is the most ambitious of the two and therefore which one will sell the other out to stay afloat?

Hillary Clinton’s closest aide Huma Abedin wept openly in the street on Friday as she returned to the place where the Democratic candidate’s campaign was fought – and lost.
Abedin looked like she had the weight of the world on her shoulders as she visited the campaign headquarters of the failed presidential candidate – after her own stumbles and her husband’s sexting habits helped contribute to Clinton’s historic defeat.
“I wonder if Anthony will take me back…”
Abedin, The Daily Mail explains, has many reasons to take the loss hard. She has been a constant presence at Clinton’s side, having worked in her office when she was first lady, served as ‘body woman’ accompanying her while Clinton was a senator, and having followed her to the State Department.
There’s an irony here: Bill Clinton’s famous “body man” was Doug Band and after Clinton left the White House, Band spearheaded the creation of the Clinton Foundation. If Huma plays her cards right, she too could help create a new, billlion-dollar, pay-for-play “charity” and then ride the coattails of another presidential hopeful in four to eight years! Chelsea Clinton? Michelle Obama? Lady Gaga?
Now, while the general consensus is that Hillary considers Huma to be like a surrogate daughter, when FBI Director James Comey reopened the investigation into Hillary’s email, Huma suddenly and completely disappeared, and Hillary referred to Huma at a rally as “one of [her] aides.” Clearly, there is a minimum of love lost between these two Lady Macbeths.
In hacked emails posted on WikiLeaks, The Daily Mail adds, Huma emerges as Clinton’s ultimate gatekeeper, weighing in about top fundraisers and dignitaries seeking face-time with the former secretary of state, while also serving as a conduit of information to the Clinton Foundation.
Yet, in this Shakespeare-in-America drama, it’s a fair question whether Huma was crying for Hillary’s sake or for her own crushed dreams to keep climbing the political ladder on Hillary’s back.
After all, Hillary beat Huma to the punch, so to speak, in the salty tears department.
