Consumers are becoming more and more savvy, checking ingredients and reading the fine print on many of the foods and household products. For some reason alcoholic beverages have escaped the general public’s scrutiny.

This has proven to be a dangerous lapse in awareness. Have you ever noticed how beers don’t have ingredients listed on the product or package? That alone is scary, but if asked for an ingredient list, the major beer companies refuse to comply.

Through independent research and testing we have identified certain ingredients in particular brands. The results are pretty scary. The cheaper beers are definitely cutting more corners than most. The fact that so many of them had toxic added colors, GMO corn, GMO corn starch, high fructose corn syrups, insect and animal derivatives, without anyone’s knowledge is terrifying!

Corona Extra

Advertising a bold flavor perfect for warm weather, they don’t tell people that it contains GMO corn syrup and propylene glycol. Propylene glycol is a synthetic liquid substance that absorbs water. It is used by the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries as an antifreeze when leakage may lead to contact with food. It is a solvent for food colors, flavors, paints, plastics and the creation of artificial smoke. Does that seem like it should be in a health conscious individual’s diet?

Miller Coors

Miller not only uses corn syrup and GMOs in their products, but honestly believes that the unorthodox additions give the beer a milder and lighter-bodied flavor. Miller Lite and Coors Light also feature these questionable ingredients for the same reason.
Pabst Blue Ribbon

This beer features both GMO corn syrup and GMO corn. The corn syrup is ‘special‘, by containing:

“carbohydrates and some simple sugars like dextrose and maltose. The sugars are fermented into alcohol and CO2, and the carbohydrates, both from the corn syrup and the malt, remain in the beers as flavor, color and body components.”
Michelob Ultra

A cheaper beer with competitively low carbs, this beer features a genetically modified sweetener: GMO dextrose.

Budweiser

Beyond having GMO corn in their products, an unapproved and experimental GMO rice strain was discovered in Budweiser and Bud Light. Anheuser-Busch defended its use of an experimental and unapproved genetically engineered experimental proteins, saying that the protein (Liberty Link) is ‘removed or broken down’ in the brewing process.
Guinness

Guinness claims to not have high fructose corn syrup in response to accusations that it does. They haven’t proven this though and refuse to disclose an ingredient list. Their beer does contain isinglass, a gelatin substance from the swim bladder of a fish. This ingredient removes any ‘haziness’, solids, and yeast byproducts. Guinness is no longer own by the Irish, a massive conglomerate called Diageo bought it up some time ago.

Newcastle Brown Ale

The Newcastle beer has been found to contain caramel coloring. Class 3 and 4 caramel coloring is made from ammonia, which is classified as a carcinogen. While alcohol is a carcinogen itself, drinking it in moderation may

decrease your chances of developing cancer. However, more added carcinogens will have the opposite effect. “The one and only” beer with extra cancer causing qualities.

Update: Good news! After much consumer pressure by all of you who read and shared this, Heineken USA has reached out to us to let us know that caramel coloring is gone…

“I’m writing you to inform that Newcastle Brown Ale has proactively removed all caramel coloring from its beer. Newcastle now receives its flavor from natural roasted malts.”

Miller Lite

This is another very popular beer in America that contains GMOs. Miller Lite contains GMO corn and corn syrup. It’s “GMO time”.
