“To succeed in your professional life isn’t that hard, but to succeed in your personal life is a lot harder. To really be a human is a lot harder. We forget about that.” – Yann Arthus-Bertand

HUMANITY is a collection of stories about and images of our world, offering an immersion to the core of what it means to be human. Through these stories full of love and happiness, as well as hatred and violence, HUMAN brings us face to face with the Other, making us reflect on our lives.

From stories of everyday experiences to accounts of the most unbelievable lives, these poignant encounters share a rare sincerity and underline who we are – our darker side, but also what is most noble in us, and what is universal.

HUMAN is a politically engaged work which allows us to embrace the human condition and to reflect on the meaning of our existence.

Celebrities using their voice to inspire people and create awareness about important issues seems to be an emerging trend in popular culture. This is very encouraging and something we need more of, especially given the fact that, unfortunately, some of them are made to be worshipped like gods. Many people want to be like them and look like them, and will buy any product a celebrity claims to use to further this goal. Celebrities are often used as corporate billboards as well, literally functioning as powerful tools for various corporations and being treated accordingly. They are huge money makers who develop, in some cases, a cult-like following. Here is a great video of Lady Gaga expressing this reality, among other things.
Russell Brand is another great example of someone who is using their fame to help spark and create change. We also see that with Jim Carrey, who has recently had some of his inspiring messages to humanity go viral. Woody Harrelson has done the same, along with many others.

Famous Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz is also a part of Human and she tried to clear the long opinion the fame and fortune equals happiness.

To be famous certainly has its upsides – lots and lots of adoring fans all over the world, the ability to get almost anything you want if you want it, to go anywhere you like in the world, be gifted free gifts, clothes, shoes and freebies. A large amount of money in the bank accounts sounds perfectly tempting for anyone trying to achieve the degree of stardom and fame.

But, would it make one happy?

Cameron Diaz gives a perfect example of it in the first minute of this film where she talks about the difference between being famous and happy and how people perceive celebrities and think that money and fame are the ticket to the afore mentioned happiness.

She has been an ultra famous international star and celebrity for decades and she sure knows what it is all about.

She illustrates it perfectly in one of her quotes: ‘Fulfillment comes from within you, by being authentic to yourself. Not chasing fame.’
