Hollywood actress and UN Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie made an appearance before the U.K.’s "House of Lords" on Tuesday where her main address was to raise awareness of how the Islamic State uses sexual violence against women to continue the viscous cycle of terror.
She insisted that the world is in need of a better leadership to overcome this threat making obvious her criticism of President Obama and his luke-warm response to the terror performed by the Islamic State.
Jolie’s speech revolved around how weak President Obama’s response to ISIS has been so far and how ISIS had been allowed to create a society based on terror, violence, rape and of course Muslim Shariah law.
“They are dictating it as policy beyond what we have seen before,” Jolie said. “They are saying, ‘We should do this, this is the right way to build a society, so we tell you to rape.’”
The Islamic militants are making a society not based on education and growing food but based on terror, kidnapping, enslaving and raping women and Obama is not doing enough to fight the terror and to stop this.
“The most aggressive terrorist group in the world today knows what we know, knows that it is a very effective weapon and they are using it as a counterpoint of their terror and their way of destroying communities and families, and attacking and dehumanizing,” Jolie explained.
“For over 10 years, I had been visiting the field and meeting families and survivors of sexual violence who felt for so long that their voices simply didn’t mater, they weren’t heard, and they carried a great shame,” Jolie continued.
She further added that we need “a very, very strong response at this time” to stop this horrific behavior. And as a US Goodwill Ambassador she has the credibility to demand greater action from Obama and the rest of the world’s leaders against this militant group.
Jolie has competence and knows well what she is speaking. She told The Houses of Parliament that she has been campaigning for Middle Eastern victims of sexual abuse for over a decade and no one is doing something to stop it.
